Veneers

In Gulf Breeze, FL

Veneers are an excellent option for those seeking to improve their smile with minimally invasive techniques. They can correct discoloration, close minor gaps, and create a harmonious appearance, making them a popular choice for cosmetic dentistry.

A veneer is a thin custom-made shell of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth. This solution improves your appearance while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel. They are customized to the shape of your teeth and are bonded to the tooth’s original enamel during a visit to our office.

What to Expect When Getting Veneers

To prepare a tooth for a porcelain veneer, Dr. Barrineau will remove about half a millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. We will use local anesthesia for this part of the process.

Next, we make a model from a scan of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which will construct your veneer.

While waiting for the permanent veneer, temporary veneers may be placed to protect the tooth and maintain aesthetics. When the final veneer is ready, Dr. Barrineau will carefully place it on the tooth, making any necessary adjustments to ensure it looks and feels perfect before it is permanently bonded to your tooth.

Composite veneers can often be completed in a single visit, offering the convenience of same-day treatment. They are actually shaped and sculpted on your teeth rather than in an offsite lab. Composite veneers are also more reversible than porcelain veneers.

What Are Veneers Made Of?

The most commonly used materials for veneers are conventional porcelain veneers and composite resin veneers. Porcelain veneers are preferable for correcting issues of shape or color and can last for many years.

When it comes to composites, minimal prep work is required on your natural teeth, meaning that the composite material can be removed and replaced as needed.

BENEFITS OF VENEERS

  • Cover dental imperfections: Veneers can cover chips, cracks, and gaps between teeth, and even camouflage slight misalignments. Although veneers don’t change the position of your teeth, they can create the illusion of perfect alignment and uniformity.
  • Whiten your smile: Made from stain-resistant materials like porcelain, veneers maintain their color and shine for years, providing you with a bright, white smile that stands the test of time.
  • Protect your teeth: Once enamel is lost, it doesn’t regenerate, which can leave your teeth vulnerable. Veneers provide a protective covering for teeth with damaged enamel, restoring their strength and appearance.
