If you have lost some of all your natural teeth, whether from injury, decay, or periodontal disease, dentures can replace your missing teeth and restore your confidence as well. With aesthetic dentures and partials from Barrineau, DDS, you will be able to eat and speak with ease, things we usually take for granted until it is too late.

Full dentures are required if you are missing all the teeth on either the lower or the upper arch, while partial dentures can be used if you still retain some of your natural teeth. Traditional dentures and partials are a cost effective way to replace teeth if you cannot afford to replace your teeth with implants, or if you are not eligible for implants because of medical conditions or lack of bone structure. If you do have healthy bone structure, you may want to consider an implant-supported denture, which combines cost effectiveness with stability.

During your denture consultation at our Gulf Breeze dental office, Dr. Barrineau will discuss your concerns and expectations regarding tooth replacement and determine if a basic denture or an implant-supported denture would best meet your needs. We will go over the pros and cons of both options and assist you in choosing the one right for you.

Life with Dentures

We understand that getting used to a new denture is a process, which is why we’re here for you while your mouth becomes accustomed to the new denture. Once you are comfortable with the fit and feel of your dentures, virtually no foods will be off limits.

To clean your dentures, use a soft-bristled brush and denture cleanser and gently brush the surfaces of the dentures, being careful not to break or bend the plastic. Between brushings, rinse your dentures after each meal. Keep your dentures moist when you are not wearing them. Dentures that are not kept in a denture cleaning solution or in water can dry out, lose their shape, crack, or break.

Keeping a clean and healthy mouth, even when you have dentures, is also very important. We recommend yearly checkups with Dr. Barrineau if you have full traditional dentures, and checkups every four to six months if you have an implant-supported denture. If you still have some natural teeth, daily brushing and flossing, as well as professional cleanings at our Gulf Breeze dental office, are required for optimal oral health.

Dr. Barrineau and our team don’t just care about replacing our patients’ teeth; we take pride in creating a denture our patients feel good about when going out to eat at a restaurant and when smiling and going to social functions.
